Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners groups.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
